Course Description

Great stories do more than entertain—they shape our moral imagination. They invite us to wrestle with suffering, recognize grace, and glimpse meaning beyond ourselves.

Writing Stories That Matter is an 8-week online screenwriting workshop for writers who want to create compelling, professional-caliber scripts that engage the deepest human questions without preaching, clichés, or compromise.

Grounded in classical story craft and informed by a serious moral and spiritual vision, this course explores how faith, hope, goodness, truth, and beauty can be embodied through character, conflict, image, and structure.

Led by professional screenwriter Chris Easterly, the course combines industry-tested craft with a humane, reflective approach to storytelling. Whether you write from explicit faith commitments or simply believe stories should tell the truth about the world, this workshop will help you develop work that is both artistically excellent and spiritually serious.

By the end of the course, students will have a substantial, original screenplay draft (short film or first acts of a feature or TV pilot), a clearer creative vocation, and tools they can use for a lifetime of writing.
